Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris has recognized Deputy Tom Johnson and Communications Officer Kelley Bowness as his Employees of the Quarter for the Fourth Quarter of 2004.
Deputy
Johnson, assigned to a patrol shift in north Okaloosa County, has been with the
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office more than two years. His supervisor credits
his “calm professional demeanor and compassion” as crucial qualities when
Deputy Johnson handled no less than five cases involving sexual abuse of
children during the quarter. His supervisor writes, “Deputy Johnson has keen
investigative skills and will work a case until it is complete… his personal
appearance and bearing are well above standard.”
Communications Officer Bowness, reports her
supervisor, “is an exemplary
dispatcher and provides an excellent example. She consistently maintains a high
level of professionalism, and excels during stressful situations. During the
holiday season, Kelley did an outstanding job of building rapport with an
emotionally upset caller, calming him down, and obtaining vital information on
his intentions and locations.”
Sheriff Charlie Morris initiated a regular program of recognition for outstanding employees when he took office in January, 1997. Information and photographs of current and previous honorees may be viewed on the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office web page at www.sheriff-okaloosa.org.
