The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting early this morning (Wednesday morning) in Fort Walton Beach.

The victim, Steven Thomas Barnes (pictured top left), age 21 (8-24-1983), of NW King Street, Fort Walton Beach, was attacked at approximately 12:37 this morning (Wednesday morning) outside of 706 Shady Lane, Fort Walton Beach. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Witnesses identified the assailant as Malrik Cordale Boose, Jr. (pictured right), age 31 (7-4-1973), of Fort Walton Beach.

Victim Barnes was visiting at the residence of his cousin, Jennifer Jackson; she and Boose have a child in common.

A man identified as the driver of the getaway car, Charles Wesley Banks (pictured bottom left), age 44 (1-23-1960) was taken into custody approximately two hours after the shooting as he returned to his residence, 441 Racetrack Road, NW, lot #49, Fort Walton Beach. Banks was charged as an Accessory After the Fact to Attempted Felony Murder and Aggravated Battery.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office has obtained warrants against Boose on charges of Attempted Felony Murder and Aggravated Battery. Boose is a 31 year old black male, approximately five-foot-eight, 160 pounds, with black hair and black eyes.
