Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris has honored Deputy Rodney Owens and
Records Clerk Gina Godwin as his Employees of the Quarter for the second quarter of
2004.
Deputy Owens has been with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office since
February, 2003. Owens, who works 12-hour patrol shifts on Okaloosa Island, responded
to 620 calls for service during the quarter, and made 55 arrests. His supervisor adds,
"Deputy Owens has utilized a problem-solving approach to serve the business owners and
residents on Okaloosa Island. Last quarter, on night shift, he realized DUI was a
significant problem and countered with an amazing 31 DUI arrests. This quarter, on day
shift, he has identified and vigorously addressed the problems associated with numerous
transients that have taken up residence on the island."
Her supervisor says Godwin, who will soon mark five years of service with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, "has upbeat attitude and tackled each challenge with determination. Gina also serves as a back-up supervisor for the Records Division... with a high degree of professionalism and courtesy. Her co-workers seem to appreciate her abilities and frequently ask her for assistance. Gina is the number one trainer for full and part-time employees."
Sheriff Morris initiated quarterly and annual recognition programs for outstanding employees when he took office in January, 1997.
