An Okaloosa County escapee has been captured in Georgia. The Cobb County Sheriff's Office apprehended Brett Adam Sword, age 23 (12-20-1980) at approximately 10:00 o'clock last night (Monday night).

Sword fled from a patrol car in Crestview last Wednesday afternoon (June 16), as he was being readied for transport to the jail, from the Okaloosa County Courthouse, after a court appearance in connection with a misdemeanor domestic violence case.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office had notified authorities in Georgia that Sword might be in the company of relatives in either Cobb or Fulton Counties. The Cobb County Sheriff's Office spotted Sword entering the apartment residence of his brother in the town of Acworth last night (Monday night), then took him into custody without incident.

Sword is being held without bond in the Cobb County Jail, pending extradition to Okaloosa County, where he faces charges of Escape, Theft, and Failure to Appear. A request for a Governor's Warrant has been initiated for Sword, who declined to sign a Waiver of Extradition.
