The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of an accidental drowning of a two year old little girl who was found floating in a pond at the family's residence. The child, Alexis Rayne Williford (02-10-02),was inside the home and was able to unlatch the child safety gate located in the living room. The little girl then opened the back door of the residence at 4078 Rocky Drive, Niceville, which lead to the backyard.
The child's mother, Hallie Ruth Williford, age 26, was the only parent at home at the time. Mrs. Williford noticed Alexis missing and found her floating in the pond. Emergency Medical Services transported the child to Twin Cities Hospital in Niceville. Both parents were present at the hospital when the child was pronounced dead by doctors at 1:12 this afternoon. Alexis is the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Williford.
