A Crestview High School student is charged with Attempted Murder after a fight in a classroom today (Wednesday).

According to witnesses, Lakinzee Jamal Jones, age 14 (5-1-1989) lunged at another student in a classroom at approximately 9:30 this morning. Jones, who weighs approximately 200 pounds, is alleged to have taken the other student to the floor with a two-handed choke-hold.

The classroom teacher intervened, while an aide summoned assistance. Jones is quoted as shouting obscenities, and saying "I'm going to kill him, you can't get me off of him..." He was subdued and handcuffed after struggling against two school administrators and the School Resource Officer.

The dispute apparently began as Jones interfered with another student who was attempting to view a bumblebee through a microscope. Witnesses say Jones kept moving the specimen out of position, the other student asked him to stop interfering, and words were exchanged just before Jones attacked the other student. Jones has been turned over to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
