A Crestview woman has been charged with Manslaughter as the result of a drug overdose death last summer.

Bobbie Jo Warren, age 24 (2-8-77), of 6024 Robin Road, Crestview, was arrested today (Wednesday) in connection with the July 24, 2000 death of 36 year old Jimmy Ray "Caveman" Johnson.

Johnson died at his 6523 Possum Ridge Road home after a day of drinking alcohol, smoking crack cocaine, and ingesting other drugs. According to laboratory and autopsy results, an overdose of the prescription opiate-based pain killer oxycodone was responsible for Johnson's death.

According to an investigation conducted by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, the oxycodone involved in the incident was prescribed to Johnson's girlfriend, Deborah Denmon. Ms. Warren obtained the drug from Ms. Denmon's purse, dissolved one pill in water in a spoon, and injected it into Johnson's arm. Johnson had allegedly requested Ms. Warren's assistance in preparing and injecting the drug.

Under Florida law, Manslaughter is the death of one person by the culpable negligence of another, without legal justification. It is a second degree felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
