The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is attempting to identify and locate the victims of five vehicle burglaries who have not reported their loss.

Eight victims who reported their vehicles broken into have already recovered their stolen property; the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office remains in possession of stolen stereo equipment from as many as five other burglaries, but investigators have been unable to match that property with any known victims.

The burglaries would have been committed on Tuesday, April 3 or Wednesday, April 4, probably in the Fort Walton Beach, Destin, or Shalimar areas. The vehicles may have been unlocked, or the burglars may have made entry by breaking windows.

The suspects were en route home to Louisiana when they were stopped for a traffic violation in Alabama, and found to be in possession of the stolen property.

The case remains under investigation; charges against the three suspects in connection with the Okaloosa County burglaries are pending.

Individuals who believe they may be unreported victims in this incident should contact Investigator Tom Bowman at (850) 609-2000.
