The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is offering a free Self Defense Seminar for Women on Saturday, March 15, in Fort Walton Beach.

The half-day session will be conducted twice: from 9:30 until noon, and again from 1:30 until 4:00 that afternoon. Interested women may attend either session; girls ages 12-17 are welcomed with a parent or legal guardian. All participants will be required to sign a waiver of liability. Up to 40 participants will be accommodated on a first-come basis.

The seminar will be held at the Martial Arts Academy, 175-A North Eglin Parkway, Cinco Bayou. This location is south of Yacht Club Drive, across the highway from K-Mart.

The seminar will include discussion and training on personal safety and home safety, and some introductory-level martial arts instruction by Masters James Cobb and Joe Cayer of the Martial Arts Academy. No participant will be expected to exceed her own individual comfortable physical limits.

Participants should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, and sneakers or other flat-soled shoes.
