Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris is sponsoring a Self Defense Seminar for women on Saturday, November 16.

The event will be free of charge, open to the first 100 female participants at the Gymnasium of Choctawhatchee High School, 110 Racetrack Road, NW, Fort Walton Beach, from 4:00 until 7:00 that evening. No pre-registration is necessary.

Instructors will be Martial Arts Masters Joe Cayer and James Cobb. The three-hour seminar will not be physically demanding, and nobody will be expected to perform beyond her own comfortable limits. The emphasis will be on recognizing potential danger in advance, in order to avoid troublesome situations... as well as some simple techniques for escaping from assailants.

The seminar is free of charge and suitable for teens, adults, and seniors. Girls ages 12 - 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian; a waiver of liability will be required for all participants. Loose fitting, comfortable attire is recommended, including sneakers, tennis shoes, walking shoes, or similar footwear.
