The Traffic Safety and Enforcement Unit of the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is offering Child Safety Seat inspections this Friday (December 13) in Destin.

Deputies of the Traffic Unit will perform an inspection, free of charge, for any motorist who transports young children. The Traffic Unit will be on hand in the parking lot of the Destin Community Center, 101 Stahlman Avenue, from 1:00 o'clock until 3:00 o'clock this Friday afternoon.

Approved seats in good condition have been proven to provide excellent protection for small children in case of a crash. Unfortunately, surveys have shown most such seats are not correctly adjusted and secured.

Deputies of the Traffic Unit will check for errors and instruct drivers and parents on proper use of child seats to provide maximum crash protection.

Child safety seats are required by law in Florida for children up to age 4.
