The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is investigating a kidnapping and sexual battery reported early this morning (Saturday morning). A 26 year old woman reports she was accosted at gunpoint by a stranger, taken into the woods of the Eglin reservation, and sexually attacked.
The victim was abducted as she walked eastbound along Hurlburt Field Road, approaching Beal Parkway, at approximately 3:30 to 4:00 o'clock Saturday morning. Her assailant covered her head with a bag and bound her hands and feet. She was driven to a location on Air Force property off of Martin Luther King Boulevard, sexually attacked, then released. She walked to a store on Beal Parkway and called authorities. The victim was examined at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center; she did not have any significant physical injuries.
The suspect is a white male, approximately six-foot-one to six-two, 180 to 190 pounds. He brandished a dark colored automatic handgun, and was wearing sunglasses and a scarf. He is believed to have been driving a red 1994 Isuzu Rodeo with Florida tag G01 DIE. That vehicle was reported stolen sometime overnight from a residence in the Ocean City area.
Anybody with any information about the suspect or the vehicle should contact the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office at (850) 651-7400 or Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at (850) 863-TIPS (863-8477).
