Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris has selected Deputy Lenny Holloway and Communications Officer Marnie Glass as his "Employees of the Quarter" for the Third Quarter of 2002.
Deputy Holloway handled more than 565 calls during the quarter, and made more than 30 arrests. One of those calls involved a disturbed individual with a large butcher knife threatening harm to himself and anyone who came near. Deputy Holloway was able to establish rapport and conversation, calming the individual, and ending the tense situation successfully. His supervisors report "he handles each call like a seasoned veteran... He works diligently for the citizens of Okaloosa County, treating everyone he encounters fairly and impartially. Deputy Holloway has been with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office since July, 2001. In addition to his full-time duties on Patrol, he is also pursuing a degree in Anthropology with a minor in Psychology at Troy State University.
Marnie Glass has been a Communications Officer with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office since March, 2000. In the past year, she has trained six new Communications Officers in the varied and complex tasks of their job. She was cited by her supervisor for "her maturity and coolness under pressure... her professionalism, and ability to handle delicate and sometimes dangerous situations... Marnie has demonstrated time and time again her compassion for the citizens of Okaloosa County."
Sheriff Morris initiated quarterly and annual recognition programs for outstanding employees when he took office in January, 1997.
