Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris has honored Deputy Paul Ciurleo and Communications Officer Jennifer Lee as his Employees of the Quarter for the first Quarter of 2003.
Deputy Ciurleo (pronounce: "chur-LAY-oh") (pictured left) joined the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office in December, 2000, with previous law enforcement experience with the US Air Force and the Fort Walton Beach Police department. Ciurleo, who works in the Destin District, was cited by his supervisors as "an aggressive, but caring protector of the community." Among his cases in the first three months of the year were apprehension of a fugitive felon; the recovery of two stolen cars and more than $10,000 worth of stolen property from a Destin burglary; and developing information that helped link a suspected local cocaine dealer to an earlier drive-by shooting.
Communications Officer Lee (pictured right) was lauded by her supervisor as "committed to her job... her professionalism has drawn praise from numerous people... during stressful situations, she is able to remain calm and handle her duties without fail... Jennifer constantly sets the example for other communications officer to follow." She has been with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office since October, 2001, and has recently been promoted to "Communications Training Officer," with responsibilities of training new Communications Officers.
