The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office has obtained a Warrant for the suspect in the Home Invasion Robbery and Sexual Battery of a woman in Destin last year.

Named on counts of Sexual Battery, Armed Burglary, Home Invasion Robbery, and False Imprisonment is John Milton Phillips, Jr., age 48 (4-19-53), of Freeport. A warrant for those charges was submitted today (Monday) by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, and was signed by Judge Kelvin Wells. Phillips is currently held without bond in the Walton County Jail in DeFuniak Springs after his arrest earlier this month in connection with a Sexual Battery in south Walton County.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Crime Lab in Pensacola was able to link Phillips to the Destin case through latent fingerprints and DNA evidence.

In the incident in Destin, a 64 year old woman was accosted by a gun-wielding intruder inside her home at approximately 3:00 o'clock on the afternoon of April 10, 2001. The victim struggled with the intruder, who sexually attacked her, robbed her, and left her tied to a chair.
