A suspect has been arrested immediately after the robbery of People's First Community Bank in Shalimar, 1199 North Eglin Parkway, Shalimar. John Hervey Tatum, Jr., age 50 (9-14-50), 2809 Sam Snead Ct., Shalimar, was taken into custody by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office four minutes after the robbery, after a brief pursuit.

Investigator James Wells was at the bank's drive-up window in an unmarked vehicle when he saw a man apparently wearing a mask and toting a gun enter the bank at 11:06 this morning (Thursday). The suspect, confronted by Wells and Investigator Stan Griggs outside the bank immediately after the robbery, led Deputies on a chase down 12th Avenue and into the Fox Valley residential area. Pursuing Deputies were able to box in the suspect's pickup truck on Sam Snead Court, in front of what they later learned was Tatum's home.

An unknown amount of cash and a BB rifle were found inside the truck.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office and the FBI continue their investigation into other recent bank robberies in the area.

A photograph of the suspect is available at www.sheriff-okaloosa.org.
