Two suspects are in custody in Louisiana in connection with the July 5 abduction of an 80 year old woman in Destin. Okaloosa County Warrants were signed yesterday (Monday) against William Eugene Oliveri (left), age 30 (8-20-70), and Eric Wayne Rivers (right), age 19 (11-17-81), both of Louisiana. Oliveri is named on counts of Kidnapping, Car jacking, Aggravated Battery on a victim over the age of 65, and Robbery. Rivers warrant is for Accessory to Robbery.
Oliveri is accused of grabbing a woman from behind as she exited the Barnes and Noble Bookstore, 34904 Emerald Coast Parkway, Destin, at approximately 4 o'clock on the afternoon of Thursday, July 5. The woman was struck in the mouth, forced face-down into her car, and driven a short distance to another parking lot, where she was released. Her abductor and his companion fled on foot with her purse.
Oliveri and Rivers were developed as suspects late last week as the result of confidential information received by an FBI agent in Louisiana. Rivers was arrested on unrelated charges in Louisiana late last week, and confirmed that he and Oliveri had been in the Destin area on July 5. Oliveri was taken into custody yesterday (Monday) in Louisiana in connection with the July 2 abduction, Car jacking, and sexual attack of a Metairie, Louisiana woman who was driven into Mississippi and released.
