The continuing investigation into the murder of Valerie Brown has resulted in a spin-off arrest on charges of Dealing in Stolen Property.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office arrested Carlos Fitzgerald Musgrove, age 37 (12-6-64), of 2803 Bradford Place, Fort Walton Beach yesterday afternoon at the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview, where Musgrove has been held since his arrest on unrelated drug charges on June 19.

Musgrove, an associate of William "Ed" Brown, is accused of arranging for the sale of two gold rings and a gold rope necklace belonging to Valerie Brown, Ed Brown's deceased sister-in-law. Valerie Brown's body was discovered inside a townhouse in the Ocean City area of Thursday, June 13; Ed Brown was arrested the next evening in Georgia. He is charged with her murder by strangulation.

A continuing investigation identified an individual who claims to have purchased Valerie Brown's stolen jewelry for approximately $25 cash, after Musgrove called him to set up the deal. The jewelry has been recovered by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation remains active; additional arrests are possible in the future.
