A murder suspect from California has been captured in Okaloosa County. Elisa McNabney, age 35 (1-3-67) was taken into custody without incident at approximately 10:15 last night (Monday night).

McNabney is also known as Laren Sims, and many other aliases. She is wanted in California for the murder of her husband, whose body was found, buried, last month. He had been missing since September.

McNabney had been living in Destin in recent weeks under the name "Shane Ivaroni." She and her teenage daughter departed the area early last Friday morning, taking a stolen pickup truck and leaving behind the Jaguar convertible McNabney had leased in California.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office maintained an active investigation, including surveillance and other techniques in an effort to track McNabney.. The daughter, Haylie Jordan, was discovered at the residence of a friend in Fort Walton Beach Monday evening not long after the two had returned to Okaloosa County. The pickup truck McNabney had been driving was found a few minutes later thereafter in the parking lot of the Winn-Dixie Market Place, 981 E. U.S. Highway 98, Destin. An intensive search by Okaloosa County Sheriff's Deputies led to the apprehension of McNabney minutes later at the pool deck of the Pelican Beach Resort, 1002. E. U.S. Highway 98.

McNabney readily admitted her identity and offered no resistance. She is being held as a Fugitive From Justice; no local charges are anticipated in the case.
