An alert clerk at a business in Destin is responsible for leading Sheriff's Deputies to a suspect in at least two armed robberies. Arrested a few minutes before midnight last night, Brian Keith Luster, age 30 (6-8-71), of Destin, is charged with the attempted knife-point robbery of a man in the parking lot of the Destin Holiday Inn earlier in the evening.

The victim, a visitor from South Carolina, told Okaloosa Deputies the would-be robber accosted him in the parking and demanded his cash and wallet. The victim walked backwards toward the well-lighted front entrance of the hotel, then broke and ran inside without ever yielding to the robber's demands. Within minutes, Deputies had alerted all businesses in the area with a detailed description of the suspect.

Responding to a tip from a business employee, Deputies located Luster at the entrance of the Gulf Terrace Condos, directly across Highway 98 from the scene of the attempted robbery.

Luster was also arrested in connection with a knife-point robbery at a supermarket parking lot less than one half mile from the scene of that incident on January 8. In that incident, the victim reported losing $70 cash to a robber with a butcher knife riding a bicycle. Both victims positively identified Luster as their assailant.
