The grocery-bagging fund raising effort this past weekend by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office generated another $2,792.03 for survivors of firefighters and police officers killed at the World Trade Center in New York. The proceeds from Saturday's event at Kelley's Supervalu in Niceville bring the grand total raised in less than two weeks by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office and the Ocean City - Wright Fire Department to $17,406.53.
All of the donations will go directly to a Firefighters and Emergency Services relief fund.
Citizens wishing to make additional donations to the same fund may do so at any SunTrust Bank. Checks should be made payable to the "Florida Fire and Emergency Services Fund, Inc.," with a notation for the "NYC Emergency Relief Fund."
