The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Canine Unit has returned from a successful week at Field Trials, with two dogs ranking in the top 20 in Florida. This year, the U.S. Police Canine Association (USPCA) Region One Field Trials were held in Sarasota, where Deputy Kristin Pond and K9 "Laser" qualified at number 18, and Sgt. Bob Dudley and K9 "Rocky" finished 19th after the week-long events.
Also satisfactorily completing all certification trials before a panel of judges were Deputy Jennifer Bellamy and K9 "Key," Deputy Chuck Nix and K9 "Rex," and Deputy Ron Kimble and K9 "Valko." Deputy Johnny Eubanks and K9 "Beau" were unable to participate due to injury.
