Murder suspect Andre Mandell Florence is in custody in Alabama. An anonymous tip, received via Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers, led to Florence's apprehension in Montgomery last night (Thursday night). Police in that city intercepted Florence as he arrived on board a bus.
The Crime Stoppers tip and capture of Florence came approximately 24 hours after the shooting death of Demetris Levon Rudolph, age 22 (12-12-1980) of Fort Walton Beach. Rudolph died Wednesday night in an incident on Cypress Street in the Sylvania Heights area.
The shooting remains under investigation.
Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers pays cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the capture of wanted persons, helps solve criminal cases, or that results in the recovery of stolen property, or the seizure of illegal drugs. Callers are never required to reveal their identity nor testify in court. A code number system is used to protect callers' anonymity. Crime Stoppers is a non-profit community organization; it is not a government program or law enforcement agency, and no taxpayer dollars are used in its reward fund.
