The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is asking for public assistance in its investigation of a Lewd and Lascivious Assault against two teenage girls in an elevator of an Okaloosa Island hotel last night (Tuesday night).
The two girls were confronted by a white man who exhibited himself, and untied a swimsuit strap on one of the girls. The incident lasted only a few seconds, and no words were spoken by the assailant, who exited the elevator and fled on foot when the girls reached their floor. He had entered the elevator with the two teenagers at the lobby level.
The girls, ages 14 and 15, were returning to their room at approximately 6:00 o'clock last evening from the swimming pool area. Neither was injured. The victims are vacationers from Mississippi.
The girls have helped the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office produce a composite likeness of their assailant. He is a white man, perhaps in his 30's, who wore a black baseball cap, a white T-shirt, and dark shorts with white stripes. The composite drawing is available on the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office web site at www.sheriff-okaloosa.org.
Anybody with information about the suspect should contact the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office at (850) 651-7400 or Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at (850) 863-TIPS (863-8477).
