The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is investigating a weekend traffic fatality in Destin. No charges have been filed at this time in connection with the crash that killed Barbara B. Waymire, age 73 (1-28-28), of 241 Indian Oaks, Destin. She was the passenger in a 1993 Chrysler driven by her husband, Billy Waymire, age 74, who remains hospitalized at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.

The Waymire car, eastbound on US Highway 98, attempted a left turn into the shores Shopping Center at approximately 7 o'clock Saturday evening (March 3). It was struck by an oncoming westbound vehicle, a 1994 Dodge Caravan towing a travel trailer. The Dodge was driven by Camille Barr, age 59, or Pensacola. Neither Barr nor her passenger, Robert Butterfield, age 62, of Ider, Alabama, were injured.

The crash occurred during rainy weather, moments prior to the arrival of a heavy storm in the Destin area.
