The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office has arrested two individuals in connection with the robbery earlier this month of the Destin Bank branch inside Delchamps (now Bruno's) Supermarket in the Shores Shopping Center, 843 E. Highway 98.
Errol Austin Rollman (Pictured Left), age 19 (12-26-81), of DeFuniak Springs; and Mark Richard Jackson (Pictured Right), age 23 (6-12-77), of south Walton County, were arrested last evening (Friday night) in Destin. Rollman, charged with Armed Robbery, is believed to have been the gun-wielding robber who demanded cash from two tellers just before the bank's 7PM closing time on January 3. Jackson, charged with Armed Robbery and with Drug Possession, is believed to have been the getaway driver.
Within the past two days, an informant led investigators to a wooded lot in Destin where a .32 caliber revolver and clothing believed used during the robbery had been hidden, and helped develop Rollman and Jackson as suspects. Approximately $400 cash from the bank was recovered when investigators served a search warrant at Jackson's residence, 200 Sandcastle Lane, Apartment 619. Both Jackson and Rollman had been staying at that address in recent days. The two are believed to spent the remainder of the stolen cash, $5,000 or more, on drugs, food, clothing, furniture, and personal bills.
Jackson was arrested a few minutes before 9:00 Friday evening after he arrived at the parking lot of a convenience store in Destin as part of an undercover drug transaction. He was found in possession of Xanax and Valium. Jackson was taken into custody minutes later at his girlfriend's residence on Lola Circle, Destin.
Both are held in the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview. The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, the Walton County Sheriff's Office, and the FBI were involved in the investigation.
