The investigation into the death of Rhonda Kimmons Chaney of Fort Walton Beach is progressing. Her car, a white 1998 Chevrolet, has been recovered and is currently being processed for evidence at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). The vehicle was located last evening (Wednesday evening) in the parking lot of a Fort Walton Beach motel.
The case is being investigated as a homicide; the exact cause of death has not yet been revealed.
The victim's body was discovered last Saturday evening (August 25) in the woods off F I M Boulevard in the Wright area, north of Fort Walton Beach. It is believed the body had been at that location approximately two days prior to its discovery.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is in the process of reconstructing Ms. Chaney's activities in the days before her death.
