The Fort Walton Beach woman reported missing under suspicious circumstances yesterday has been found. Elana Victoria Caroll, age 38 (1-22-64), of 800 Cardinal Street, lot 13, is now in the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview, after admitting to Sheriff's Investigators that she stole more than $1,000 from her place of employment and staged the scene to resemble a burglary.

Caroll was arrested after midnight this morning (Friday morning), on charges of Burglary, Grand Theft, and Possession of Burglary Tools.

She had been reported missing yesterday (Thursday) afternoon, after failing to come home from work the night before from her job as a bartender at VFW post 11367 on West US Highway 98 near the Okaloosa - Santa Rosa County line. The VFW building appeared to have been burglarized, the cash was gone, and Ms. Caroll and her car were missing.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's Investigators were able to track Caroll to the home of an acquaintance in Fort Walton Beach late last night (Thursday night). Under questioning, she stated she closed the bar about 10PM, then met some friends and used crack cocaine. She returned to the business later, smashed the front door with a hammer, used a screwdriver to pry an interior door and cabinet, and took cash.
