Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris announces his agency will match any reward paid by Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers for information that solves any Hit and Run Traffic Homicide in which the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is the investigating agency.

This effectively doubles the cash reward to $2,000 in two such cases under investigation in Destin.

On Saturday evening, August 10, 15 year old Michelle "Shelly" Meadors of Louisville, Kentucky was struck by a pickup truck that ran off of US Highway 98 and onto the sidewalk. The teenage visitor to the Emerald Coast died the next day. The truck that struck her continued eastbound and left the area without stopping. Witnesses describe the vehicle as a full size white pickup truck with an extended cab, and pulling a small boat on a trailer.

At approximately 3:15 AM on Sunday morning, January 6, 2002, 32 year old Kymberly Thomas of Destin was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle on Airport Road in Destin. She died later in a Pensacola Hospital. More information about that case, including an audio recording of a 9-1-1 call that may contain the voice of the driver, is available at www.emeraldcoastcrimestoppers.com or at www.sheriff-okaloosa.org.
