The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office and the FBI are investigating a Bank Robbery in Destin this afternoon (Tuesday afternoon). The robber, described as an older white man of frail build, handed a teller a note and walked out of the Bank of America at 1014 E. US Highway 98 with an undetermined amount of cash a few minutes before 1:00 o'clock this afternoon (Tuesday afternoon). He is believed to have left the area in an older model sedan with a faded maroon finish. That car was last seen eastbound on Highway 98.
The robber did not display any weapon, nor did he threaten any of the six employees and two customers inside the bank at the time. Witnesses said the robber was approximately five-foot-ten to six feet tall, with short, greying hair and several days growth of beard. He was wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a white ball cap, and dark glasses.
Bank personnel acted quickly to observe the robber's direction of travel, preserve the crime scene, and immediately relay information to the Sheriff's Office.
