Investigator Tom Bowman and Communications Officer Denise Harrington are the "Employees of the Quarter" for Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris.

Investigator Bowman was recognized for his "outstanding job performance and dedication" as the Sworn Employee of the Quarter for the second quarter of 2001. Among cases successfully worked by Investigator Bowman during the quarter were a house burglary in Mary Esther in which thousands of dollars worth of property and three teenage suspects were arrested, a rash of automobile burglaries, and an incident that began as a burglary investigation and evolved into a case of cultivation of marijuana. Bowman, who has been with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office almost nine years, was cited for "always keeping an open mind to new ideas and techniques."

Communications Officer Harrington , who works the midnight shift at the communications center in Crestview, reached her seven year anniversary with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office this week. She was cited for her "conscientious work habits, attention to detail, superb knowledge of policies and procedures... and performance of her job in a professional and courteous manner." During the past quarter, she was instrumental in efficiently co-ordinating the activities of at least six law enforcement agencies in a rapidly-developing case that stretched from Okaloosa Island to Fort Walton Beach to Crestview. Her efforts assisted greatly in the successful apprehension of a potentially dangerous and violent individual who had burglarized a gun shop and a police car and threatened harm to himself and others.

Sheriff Morris initiated regular employee recognition programs when he took office in January, 1997.
