Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris has honored his Employees of the Quarter for the final Quarter of 2000: Deputy Danny Dean and Communications Officer Angie Barrow.
The Sworn Employee of the Quarter, Deputy Danny Dean, has been with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office since July of 1998. Deputy Dean received the highest ratings on evaluations of the shift deputies for the last quarter. Deputy Dean has been actively involved as a Shift Crime Scene Investigator and Field Training Officer, training three deputy trainees within the last four months. Dean's supervisor wrote, " He sets an excellent example for those he trains, from how to perform daily functions to how to project a professional law enforcement image."
Communications Officer Angie Barrow, the Non-Sworn Employee of the Quarter, has repeatedly drawn on new and productive ways to handle a variety of situations that are dealt with in the Communications Center. Officer Barrow was recently involved in a call which began as a suicide threat and escalated to a possible hostage situation. Barrows was able to subdue the caller and keep responding deputies advised of the caller's mental and emotional state. Her quick thinking in this incident prevented a possibly deadly situation. Barrows has been an Okaloosa County Sheriff's Communication Officer since May of 1997.
