Anonymous information received through Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers is responsible for the recapture of three Alabama Jail escapees in Okaloosa County. The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Warrants Unit and Community Policing Unit located and apprehended Donald Eric Pippin, age 21 (4-30-80); Reginald DeShea Riley, age 26 (8-20-75); and Billy Joe Sellers, age 19 (1-25-82).
The three escaped from the Barbour County Jail in Alabama the previous evening by jumping a guard and taking her keys. They fled in the guard's personal car, then stole another vehicle in Montgomery. The second stolen car and a stolen gun were recovered with the arrest of the three last evening (Thursday evening).
A tip through Crime Stoppers helped trace the three to a residence at 613 Mayflower Avenue, Fort Walton Beach. Pippin fled through a window when Deputies arrived, and was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit through the backyards of several homes. Riley was found inside the house hiding under a bed; Sellers was hiding in a closet.
Pippin had been jailed in Alabama on a charge of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card; Riley was charged with Violation of Probation from a previous Burglary conviction; and Sellers was being held for Burglary, Theft, and Receiving Stolen Property.
In addition to the three escapees, two residents of the Mayflower Avenue house were also arrested. Shannon Leigh Peeples, age 18 (1-31-83), and a 16 year old girl were both charged as Accessories After the Fact to Fugitives.
