A Crestview woman has been arrested as the result of an ongoing investigation by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office into cash missing from bank deposits of the Okaloosa Regional Airport parking lot. Meanwhile, investigators are asking individuals who paid by check for airport parking last December and January to help in an ongoing portion of the same investigation.
Karen R. Jackson, age 33 (4-24-68), was arrested this afternoon (Friday afternoon) at her home, 404 W. First Avenue, Crestview on a Grand Theft warrant. Jackson was an assistant manager for Republic Parking Systems, which operates the airport parking facilities, when deposited receipts turned up $6,957 short on the weekend of March 10.
The disappearance of another $19,000 in parking lot receipts remains under investigation, and the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is asking for public assistance in locating possible witnesses. The witnesses at this time are known only by the last names of "Copeland," "Johnson," "Waters," "Bishop," "Shealy," and several others whose names were not legible on handwritten deposit slips. These individuals are not implicated in any wrongdoing; they are listed as having paid parking fees at the Okaloosa Regional Airport by check in December, 2000 and January, 2001. These persons are asked to contact Investigator Mike Jones at the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office at (850) 609-2000.
