Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris has honored Investigator Todd Watkins and Communications Officer Antoine Lewis as his "Employees of the Quarter" for the fourth quarter of 2002.
Investigator Watkins has been assigned to the Drug Task Force for almost three years, after seven years as a Patrol Deputy. During the past quarter, Investigator Watkins handled 24 narcotics cases. His work led to 18 arrests and 31 criminal charges, with more than $200,000 worth of illegal drugs removed from the streets of Okaloosa County. Investigator Watkins cases also resulted in the seizure of $59,000 cash of illegal drug trade profits during the last three months of 2002. His supervisor commented, "Todd has established himself as a leader... younger officers seek him out for advice... his work ethic is consistent.. His report writing and case preparation are second to none."
Communications Officer Lewis has been with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office more than two years, working in the communications center in Crestview. Writes his supervisor, "Antoine's ability to handle a multitude of tasks in times of potentially dangerous and life-threatening situations has drawn praise from seasoned veterans... Antoine is often asked to share his knowledge with new personnel... he is constantly striving to improve his knowledge by taking law enforcement courses in his off-duty time." He was also praised for his quiet, calm manner, maturity, and ability to perform efficiently under stress.
