An individual arrested last week may be single-handedly responsible for more than 180 vehicle burglaries in Fort Walton Beach, Ocean City, Shalimar, and Destin.

At this time, Christopher Ray Moore, age 23 (1-21-1980) of 103-B Doodle Avenue, Fort Walton Beach, is charged with one count each of Burglary to a Vehicle, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Petty Theft; additional charges are pending.

The investigation began at approximately 1:30 AM on Friday morning, November 7, when a citizen reported a suspicious person peering into cars on Palm Harbor Drive. A few minutes later, Deputies on patrol in the area spotted Moore walking along Rickey Avenue.

Moore has since co-operated with Investigators, admitting to more than 180 vehicle burglaries. All of the burglaries involved unlocked cars in residential neighborhoods at night in recent weeks. Much of the stolen property has been recovered.

The vast majority of the burglaries had not been reported. Deputies are in the process of identifying and contacting possible victims, based on information provided by Moore.

Property taken in the burglaries includes laptop computers and other electronic equipment, cash, sunglasses, in-dash stereo equipment, and other items.
