Space is still available in the Sheriff's Citizens Academy, which begins next Monday (August 4).

Classes will be held each Monday night from 6:00 until 9:00 at the Okaloosa-Walton Community College Niceville Campus.

Students will be exposed to the wide range of programs, services, and responsibilities of the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office. Instructors for the academy will be members of the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, teaching within their individual areas of expertise.

Topics covered by the Citizens Academy include Patrol Procedures, Crime Prevention, Communications and 9-1-1, Crime Scene Processing, Narcotics Enforcement, Civil Process, Domestic Violence, Child abuse, Sex Crimes, Firearm Safety, School Resource Officers, Criminal Investigations, Homeland Security, K-9 Operations, Community Policing, Environmental Enforcement, and many more.
