Deputy Derek York and K-9 Ranger (Retired, Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd Mix)
Deputy York began his career with the OCSO in 2004. Prior to joining the K9 unit in 2010, Deputy York worked Patrol and was a valued member of the agency’s SWAT team.
Deputy York and K9 Nico began their career together in February 2017, after successful completion of training and certification. K9 Nico is Deputy York’s second dual purpose canine he has worked for the agency. His first canine, K9 Ranger, was retried in August 2016.
K9 Nico is a dual purpose canine, Patrol and Narcotics, certified through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA).
