Stephen Cordova

ARREST REPORT

A Crestview man is now in custody following a stand-off with Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies who went to his home this morning to serve him with a felony warrant for attempted murder.

27-year old Stephen Cordova of 131 Cabana Way initially refused to come outside. The OCSO Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiations Unit also responded and Cordova finally exited the house around 12:25 this afternoon.

Cordova is accused of shooting a man outside a home at 28 Miller Street in the Fort Walton Beach area August 31st. Witnesses say Cordova was an armed passenger in a black Nissan Altima that drove down Miller Street around 4:15 p.m. He’s accused of firing multiple rounds out of the car, one of which struck a 36 year old Fort Walton Beach man attending a child’s birthday party. The birthday party was taking place in the back yard as the shooting erupted.

The victim suffered a life-threatening wound to his leg which caused arterial damage and required lifesaving surgery. Deputies on the scene are credited with preventing the victim from bleeding to death. Several vehicles at the scene were also hit with bullets.

Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office investigators developed Cordova as a suspect in the case.

Deputies went to his home this morning to serve felony warrants for attempted murder, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The investigation is ongoing.
