OCSO TAKES PART IN SEAT BELT CAMPAIGN

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is participating once again in the  Florida Click It Or Ticket Campaign which kicked off May 11, 2009 and will runs through the Memorial Day Weekend May 31,2009.

Law enforcement agencies are focusing on heightened seat belt use enforcement because drivers and passengers who don't wear their seat belts are 14 times more likely to die in a traffic crash. Buckling up is the single most important step you can take to protect yourself in the event you're involved in an accident.

Under a new state law that takes effect July 1st,  Florida law enforcement officers will be able to use non-compliance with the seat belt law as a primary reason to stop a vehicle.

Meanwhile, for more information on the national “Click It or Ticket” mobilization, visit www.clickitfla.com.
