Investigators
with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office today (June 9) wrapped up an
investigation into allegations that undocumented workers are employed at the
construction site of the new Okaloosa County Wastewater Treatment Plant in
Wright.
Random
surveillance done since the allegations were first received revealed no change
in the workforce during that time period.
Today, Sheriff’s Office investigators did a walkthrough of the job site
and spoke to both workers and supervisors. No
evidence was found to support allegations that illegal or undocumented workers
were present.
The general
contractor, CDM Constructors of Maitland, Florida, requires all subcontractors
to follow state and federal law as they apply to screening and hiring authorized
employees.
