TWO IN CUSTODY IN DESTIN HOME INVASION ROBBERY
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrested two teenagers Sunday in
connection with the Saturday night home invasion robbery of a Destin man.
16-year old Richard Eugene Brantley of 425 Weber Street in Fort Walton
Beach and 16-year old Andre D. Brooks of 921 Lauderhill Lane in Fort Walton
Beach are currently in custody in connection with the crime at 320 Kelly Street
in Destin.
The resident there says he head a knock on his door and 11:30 Saturday
night and then a male wearing a ski mask and carrying a handgun rushed in. He
says two other males came in afterwards.
The first individual hit him in the head with the gun. The thieves then
took another handgun from the home, as well as a camera, before leaving.
Just before midnight, a deputy spotted a car matching the description of
the suspect’s car near the Winn-Dixie on Beal Parkway in Fort Walton Beach.
The the driver and passenger fled when the deputy attempted a traffic stop.
Brantley however was apprehended by deputies, while Brooks was later
brought to the Sheriff’s Office by a family member.
