NO
CHARGES IN TOY GUN SCARE
No charges will be filed against three students who sparked a scare
Wednesday morning at Richbourg Middle School and Northwood Elementary School in
Crestview.
The schools were locked down after reports that one or more students may
have brought a gun onto school grounds. Investigators were able to locate a 5th
grader, 6th grader, and 7th grader who were believed to be
involved.
The incident started when a bus driver who saw the boys playing with two
guns enroute to school thought one child placed a weapon in his backpack. She
notified a school crossing guard who then told school officials. The
investigation revealed the boys had hidden what turned out to be two TOY guns in
bushes at a nearby home. They say they planned to pick them back up on the way
home from school. No threats were made and the toy guns were never taken onto
school property so no charges will be filed.
Meanwhile School Resource Officer Marney Hudson says the lockdown drills
and responses by officers, students, and school officials went like clockwork.
