DESTIN MOTORCYCLE FATALITY UNDER INVESTIGATION

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic crash that took place Sunday evening around 10:45 on US Highway 98 near the intersection of State Road 293. 29-year old Jeremy L. Sweat of Youngstown Florida was heading west in the center westbound lane on his motorcycle when he failed to stop at a red light and hit the rear of a 2003 Infiniti sport utility vehicle. Sweat was ejected and died at the scene. The collision also pushed the Infiniti into a 1983 Ford Mustang in the same lane ahead of it. No one in either vehicle was injured.

Some witnesses who spoke to first responders at the scene did not leave their names or addresses. Deputies would like to be able to talk to them to gather any significant information regarding the crash and/or the motorcyclist’s actions prior to the crash. Any witnesses are asked to please contact the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office at 651-7400.
