K-9 TEAM EARNS AWARDS IN STATE CERTIFICATION TRIALS

    Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris announces high marks once again for members of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit. Four deputies and their police dogs took part in the U.S. Police K-9 Association’s Region One Certification Trials April 10th – 14th in Punta Gorda , Florida . They competed against approximately sixty other K-9’s from across the state.  Dogs are evaluated in obedience, agility, search work, and criminal apprehension.

    Sergeant Bob Dudley and K-9 “Rocky” earned sixth place overall in the competition. The pair also took second place in criminal apprehension.

     Deputy Ron Kimble and K-9 “Joker”, a new dog, placed 15th overall.

     Deputy Tim Patterson and K-9 “Flash” came in 19th.

     Deputy Jim Duval and new K-9 “Tyson” earned third place in the agility rankings.

     As a team, the four deputies and their police dogs netted the second highest score in the competition.

     K-9’s must be certified annually.
