Hit and Run in Destin

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit and run traffic crash that occurred approximately at 8:40 pm this evening (Wednesday).  The traffic crash took place on Airport Road near Industrial Lane .  Eye witnesses reported a dark color pick-up truck struck a bicyclist on the east bound lanes of Airport Road .  The pick-up truck continued east bound.  The bicyclist was pronounced dead on scene.  Family members positively identified the bicyclist as Elcio Nasareno Pinentel, age 36 (03/03/1970) of 955 Airport Road, Apt #1211 .  Pinentel is from Brazil and was approximately in the country for a year working in construction.
