OCSO
2005 EMPLOYEES OF THE YEAR
Okaloosa County
Sheriff
Charlie Morris has taken the rare move of having two sworn “Employees of the
Year”. That’s because Deputies
Steve Hough
and Scott Spence are a team. They started the Office’s first Sexual Offendor/Predator
Unit in June of 2005. The pair now operates a successful program to monitor the
activities and registrations of all the Sexual Offenders in
Okaloosa
County
, (currently numbering more than 250). Deputies Hough and Spence also
helped in the set-up and training of the new on-line registration process
through FDLE as mandated by the Jessica Lunsford Act. In 2005 they issued
more than forty arrests for “failure to register” offenses.
The 2005 non-sworn “Employee of the Year” is a true inspiration to her
co-workers. Warrants Clerk Roberta Pifer began working with the OCSO in November
2004 and quickly proved to be a sharp, courteous and dedicated employee. Despite
an energy-sapping, life-threatening illness, Roberta rarely missed a day at work
and in fact, was often one of the first to arrive and one of the last to leave.
Roberta is a true example of bravery and courage, and a
Sheriff
’s Office employee who routinely goes above and beyond in performing her
duties.
