OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING UPDATE

     Okaloosa County Deputy Chris Anglin is on paid administrative leave, pending the results of an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.   Deputy Anglin was involved in a shooting incident around 7:00 p.m. Thanksgiving evening in the parking lot of the Subway restaurant on Highway 98 in Florosa. Anglin fired his weapon at the driver of a van who Anglin says tried to run over him.

     The suspect, 27-year old Jwiane S. Smith, was later arrested at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, where he'd gone to be treated for a gunshot wound.   Smith's last known address is Pine Forest Road in Ocala, Fl. He is being held in the Escambia County jail on felony Violation of Probation charges for sale of a controlled substance, giving a false name, and grand theft. Smith also has an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license. In addition, he is under investigation for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer in connection with the Okaloosa County incident.  For any additional information, contact the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
