DUI Saturation Patrol Targeting Highway 98

            A joint operation by the Okaloosa County Sheriffs Office Traffic Enforcement Unit and the Florida Highway Patrol will conduct a “DUI Saturation Patrol” on Friday (tomorrow), July 29th on Highway 98 in South Okaloosa County .  The goal of the DUI Saturation Patrol is to detect DUI’s, thus reducing death, injury and property damage.  The saturation patrol will be conducted with minimal intrusion to the public.

In 2004, 973 DUI arrests were made by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, City Police, Florida Highway Patrol, and other agencies.  Out of the 973 DUI arrests, 421 arrests were made by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office alone.   

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is an active participant in the “You Drink, You Drive, You Lose” traffic safety initiative.  Citizens should report apparent impaired, reckless, or dangerous drivers immediately by dialing *DUI, *SO (Alltel) or 9-1-1 from a cellular phone.
