Fugitive from Justice Arrested

A Crestview man is now in the custody of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office after a positive DNA match identified him for a murder he committed in Tucson , Arizona eighteen years ago.

A joint investigation by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, the Pima County State Attorney’s Office in Arizona and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department resulted in the arrest of Tyrone James Kessler, age 39 (9-26-65) of 505 Forest Ct, Crestview.  On June 18 (Saturday) investigators served a warrant around 9:00 p.m. at Kessler’s residence, along with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT).  Kessler was arrested without incident for Fugitive from Justice on a State of Arizona , Pima County warrant for the charge of First Degree Murder.  Kessler is linked to the murder of Katherine Young, who was found murdered in her home in May of 1987.  Kessler is awaiting his first appearance today (Sunday) before a judge. 

Kessler’s son, Stefen Michael Kessler, age 18 (5-4-87) also of 505 Forest Ct , Crestview, was arrested for local misdemeanor theft charges.
